Longhorn Aquatics Long Course Kickoff Meet

For those of you swimming at the LC Kickoff Meet hosted by Lornghorn Aquatics in Austin, the Saturday afternoon session warm-ups start at 1:30 pm, meet starts at 2:30 pm.   Sunday afternoon warm-ups start at 1:00 pm and the meet starts at 2:00 pm.   Additional information about the meet is posted on the hosts website.

Practice Update

Welcome back to NCHS!!! All practices have resumed thier normal times and locations.   Thank you for your patients through these pool issues.

Long Course Schedule

The Long Course Schedule update to reflect the meets the NCAT will attend as a team.    Additional meets are available and can be seen on Gulf Swimmings website (www.gulfswimming.org)

Practice Update

Practice will return to its normal time at the New Caney High School for the week of 9 Feb. through 13 Feb.    However, the pool still has a leak and they will continue to work on it.   We may be out of the pool again the following week, we will let you know.

MAC Open Meet

Congratulation to all the swimmers who attended the MAC Open meet this past weekend.   Katy Freeman qualified for TAGS in the 500 free and Lauren Kitto qualified for TAGS in the 1000 free.   All swimmers recorded many best times.

NCHS Blue/ White Meet

The New Caney High School "Blue/ White" meet has been rescheduled for 18 Nov. at 5:30 pm at the high school.   Coach Jeff needs a firm commitment from all high school and middle school students (plus Katy) by Wednesday, 12 Nov. from those wishing to swim.  This meet will be run like a high school meet.  Timing volunteers will be needed.  This meet is a lot of fun, please plan on joining us!

Swim Suit Sales

Lane Four Swim & Run will be at the New Caney High School Pool Tuesday evening from 5:30 to 6:30 pm selling team suits.  If you need anything else, please call the store at 281-360-1368 and ask Lisa to bring it with her to the pool.

We are back in the FOREST COVE POOL effective immediately.  Practice will resume tomorrow, 01 Oct. 2008 at 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm at Forest Cove pool.  All practices at Conroe Rec Center, both morning and evening are discontinued.

Pool Updates

Forest Cove Pool finally has power.  Our plan is to be in Forest Cove pool by Thursday, Oct.2.  We have a call into Crystal pools to clean it up but once again we are at someone else's mercy.  There is a light at the end of the tunnel.  We will keep you updated.

New Caney High School Pool slated to be completed by Oct. 13th.

The New Caney High School "Blue/ White" meet was scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 7.  We are checking on the status of this meet and will let you know what we find out.

Miscellaneous Items

Monthly fees are due by the end of the week.  We will waive late fees due to some not getting to practice to see me to turn in fees.  Please plan on paying full monthly dues when you see either Patty or myself.

Practice Update

Practice Saturday, 27 Sept. at 1:00 pm in Conroe, Candy Cane Park   $5.00 entry fee, punch card 10 visits $22.00.

We will verify with Jeff the times for next week on Saturday.  It appears that we are looking at this pool situation on a weekly basis.  Forest Cove Pool- no electricity and green, New Caney High School pool - estimated completion date is 13 Oct. 2008.  Your continued patients through this period is greatly appreciated.

Practice Update

The Forest Cove pool, our temporary home, is still without power.  We will get an update on the high school pool on Thursday or Friday of this week (we go back to school on Thursday).  Coach Jeff has made temporary, temporary arrangements with Conroe Rec Center aka Candy Cane Park .  Practice starting Tuesday, 23 Sept. is as follows:

Monday- Friday 5:15 am   (must let Jeff know by email if you are attending.  Or you can let Mary or Patty know and they will get a message to him.  Please try to make this decision the day before.  He does not want to show up if no one is coming.  The Conroe Recreation Center charges $5.00 per swimmer.

Wednesday 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm  This is open rec swim so there is a $5.00 charge for every swimmer. If you are there before the swimmers get in the water the team will pay for entry fee.  Please let Mary know your swimmer has arrived.

Remember that this is only temporary until either the Forest Cove or High School pool becomes available.   We are guest of Conroe Recreation Center so please be courteous and polite to everyone.

We are trying to get a carpool together for the next 2 days and on Wednesday evening.  If you are interested please email Mary or Patty or call us to let us know.  If you have any other questions please feel free to call us and we will try to answer them.

Hurricane IKE Update

We hope everyone came through the storm with minimal damage.  Everyone is safe and ready to get back to the grind we call our lives.  Here is an update on the status of the pool and practice.  The pool currently still does NOT have electricity, so no pumps.  The pool is turning green.  Yuck!   We will check daily to see when electricity comes back on.  When this happens we will call Crystal Pools to see when they can clean it.   Our hope is that we are in the pool by the end of the week but this mat be just wishful thinking.  Please be patient.

Jacob's Recovery

For those of you that do not know, as the Burrs were escaping the lack of electricity and water to go to Round Rock, Jacob was attacked by a dog and spent 2 days in the hospital.  He was life flighted from Angleton to Memorial Hermann for immediate surgery to repair his numerous wounds.  He is now comfortably recovering at home but will be out of the water until all wounds are completely healed.  The Burr Family has a room reserved for the Corpus Christi Meet and obviously will not need it, if anyone would like to take it, please contact her directly.  Prayers for his complete recovery are always welcomed.

Please let Coach Jeff know if you plan on attending the NCHS "Blue/White" Meet on Tuesday, Oct. 7.  He needs to have entries into Coach Parrish Kelley by Oct. 3rd.  Everyone (except Brittany and John) are included in this invite.  Also please check the website for the deadline for entries for the Corpus Christi meet (it will be here before you know it).

New Caney is returning to school on Thursday, Sept. 25.  They will resume work on the high school pool soon, if not already.

TEMPORARY PRACTICE LOCATION

Practice for at least the next 2 weeks will be at the FOREST COVE POOL. We will still begin practice at 5:30 Monday and adjust the time based on how long it takes coach to get there. This is an outdoor pool with no lights so we will be out of the pool no later than 8:00 pm.

The pool is at the Forest Cove Community Center at 1025 Marina Dr. Kingwood, TX 77339. The pool is on the right side of Marina Dr. Please do not park at the apartments, but directly in front of the pool or the grassy area to the left of the pool.

There will be no dry land workout during this time at Forect Cove.

26 - 27 2008-2009 Short Course Registration

Registration for the upcoming Short Course 2008/Long Course Season 2009 will be on Aug. 26 and 27 at the pool.

Please plan on coming one of those day to take care of all the paperwork and related fees. Fees includes $40.00 registration fee (up to $80 for family), $64.00 USA fee and regular monthly fee (September)

The registration form, parent/swimmer code of conduct, and additional t-shirts order form should be downloaded from here and brought to pool one of these days.

If registration is NOT taken care of on these 2 days, your swimmer can NOT swim until ALL fees and paperwork is up to date.
